This outfit is all about comfort and sun safety. Kimonos are the perfect garment for festivals.

Tissues (for when the toilet runs out)
Antibacterial gel. (also comes in handy when the loos are gross)

If you are a first time visitor to my site, welcome. First thing you should know is that I don’t listen to the ‘norms’ of what plus women should and shouldn’t wear. Stripes is one of those styles that I wear on a regular basis. {I write about it a little more here}

For this round of Aussie Curves stripe I went out of my comfort zone a little and wore an off the shoulder stripe. So basically a boob stripe top. Did it make my bust look larger than normal? Yes. Did I care? Nope.

Wear what you like how you like it. That’s all that matters.

Aussie Curves ~ Shoes

This week it’s all about shoes. I’m the kinda gal who likes to wear my shoes to death and then they go to shoe heaven. And then I buy more.

Getting the most wear out of my shoes is my number one priority. Oh and comfort. They must be comfortable {see my top tips for comfy shoes here}

On a whim back in September I purchased these lovely ‘Sweetheart’ shoes. A perfect match my cute heart dress from Yours Clothing UK. Cuteness all round.

No styling here, just me in a summers dress about to go out for lunch with friends.

I’m wearing a size 16, which was a little tight on the bust. Later that day I ended up undoing the zip, luckily I had worn a black singlet top underneath. The zip goes right down to the hips so you can step in and out of it easily. {will leave that one there for your imagination}

Now you all know how much I love pockets in dresses. It’s very hot in Northern Queensland at this time of year so most of my clothing is lightweight and I don’t carry a bag around much.

Often pockets can add bulk to a dress. These drop pockets are quite flattering especially with the added pleat detail which creates ruching along the dress.

If you are a little self conscious of your tummy area, then this style dress is for you.

So, the shoes. I’ve featured quite a few Fiebiger Shoes lately in my posts, mainly because I did my once a year shoe shop in September and have fallen in love with the styles, comfort and whilst I’m being honest the cost. So affordable.

These Sweetheart sandals have an almond shaped open toe, flexible toe-post {so no in-between the toes blisters appear} and silver heart embellishment on the vamp. The flats boast an adjustable ankle strap and silver metal accents on the heel. Fancy.

Aussie Curves ~ Airport

This week for Aussie Curves we are talking about travel outfits.

I travel a fair bit. And by a fair bit I mean a lot. Working in the events industry over the last 10 years means the I’ve had the privilege to travel a fair chunk of the world. My dad is also a pilot so when it comes to flying, for me it’s like getting into a car.

I don’t make any special preparations or stress about the upcoming flight, I’m organised and precise about what I wear and bring with me on the plane.

At Christmas I travelled from Cairns, to Melbourne, to Hong Kong then to England. Killer trip. Seriously.

For this trip my outfits varied, mainly because I was going from the tropics to what felt like Antarctica. The only thing that stayed consistent was that I wore the same shoes and always had a pashmina scarf packed with me. {which can be used over your shoulders, as a scarf, as a blanket, as a backrest etc}

I started off wearing my boohoo dress with flats because it was 35 degrees in Cairns with 90% humidity. I was still hot wearing it but knew it would be air-conditioned in the airport and in transit I would appreciate the sleeves.

From Melbourne to England to wore my super comfy 17 Sunday slouch pants matched with a textured white short sleeve tee. Under the top I wore a white singlet top from Kmart.

Both garments are cut to a comfortable, relaxed fit and made from soft material. All the qualities you want travelling.

Normally I wouldn’t wear white on a plane. But being all grown up I thought I would risk wearing a white top. Surely I wouldn’t spill anything on myself? FAIL. EPIC FAIL. Luckily I’d packed 17 Sundays Varsity Tee as a backup.

Because it can get a little chilly on flights I had also packed a black jacket and my trusty pashmina. I was travelling on my own so couldn’t really be bothered asking anyone to take a photo for me.

I’d planned to do some fabulous outfit photos, but in the end you guys are getting selfies from my recent trip that I’d shared with family along the journey. I’m sure you guys love the real stuff right?

Aussie Curves ~ Pastel

You may have noticed by now I’m a huge fan of pastel colours. They are soft, feminine and look fabulous against every skin tone.

I had every intention of showing off an entire purple and pink pastel outfit {click here to see} but I couldn’t wait until the Aussie Curves pastel week.

So instead of showing you another full pastel outfit, here’s my take on pastel feature my favourite accessories.

I’ve been wearing this contrast midi panel dress at least once a week since I purchased it in September. It’s still available online and a complete bargain at $40!

The silhouette enhancing contrast panels are flattering on curves. I just adore the city print on the panels.

Aussie Curves ~ Favourite Colour

I’ve always been a purple girl. Perhaps I grew to like wearing a purple school uniform for 6 years but either way the colour has stuck with me.

This purple is more of a soft lilac purple which goes adorably with my pastel pink accessories including my favourite pointed stiletto pumps.

I purchased this dress from Boohoo.com in October for $32. Skater dresses are always a great fit on my body shape and I love square necklines.

The material is quite thick so whilst I haven’t been able to wear it too much in the warmth of Queensland Spring, I’m heading to the UK for Christmas so I will wear it with stockings for a Winter look.

Now because I’m a little top heavy {okay a lot top heavy} with not much of a waist I accessorised with a pink belt and long neckline to break up the bulk of the dress.

The belt gave me some shape to my bust and waist.

I looked everywhere {maybe three stores} for a pink belt. In the end I purchased a belt from Kmart for $7 and a pink nail polish for $3 and created my own pink belt. Not the right shade of pink but oh well….you can’t win them all.

It’s a simple matchy matchy kind of look that I love to recreate again and again. I felt feminine, elegant and beautiful.

Shades Of Blue

In September I celebrated my 29th Birthday visiting friends in Cairns in Far Northern Queensland. And for those of you who aren’t familiar with the location, Cairns is located in the tropics with the Great Barrier Reef close by.

Being in holiday mode I couldn’t wait to slip on my new Adriatic Silk Maxi Dress designed in Australia by Meri By Design.

Floaty, floor-sweeping and fashion-forward, the maxi dress is the most-wanted way to make waves this season.

Speaking of waves, how fabulous is the pattern. With the lovely soft blue and navvy Ocean print {which for me resembles the Great Barrier Reef}, this maxi dress has been adorned with pops of vibrant green accents to create a seriously fun look for the summer ahead.

The silk flows effortlessly over my curves whilst the waist belt gave me a bit of shape.

Now for you ladies who have a bigger bust like me, the V neck design is flattering and there’s plenty of room in the chest region.

Easily worn over bathers or to a casual dinner, you can dress this piece up or down on your summer holidays.

It’s certainly a statement piece for your wardrobe.

Aussie Curves ~ Skirt

I had grand plans to show you an amazing skirt from Boohoo.com but alas the real world called and I had to go away on a work trip for a couple of days. In my 10 minutes I had to pack my corporate clothing I couldn’t for the life of me remember what top would go with the fluro pink skirt so it had to stay behind at home.

So the CurvySam that you are seeing now is everyday CurvySam. I don’t claim to be a ‘fashionista’ or stylist. I wear what is comfortable for my lifestyle and what I feel looks good on my curvy size 18 body. And hey if you guys like it, or it inspires you to wear a mini tube skirt then thats great.

My photos are generally taken on my iPhone {by a friend I’ve bribed} whilst out and about enjoying life. There’s minimal time planning or thinking about what goes with what.

Sometimes I post photos wearing designer labels, although you’ll mostly notice that I wear a key cheap item matched with a pricer top or an amazing set of shoes.
You don’t have to spend a bucketload to look amazing.

Anyways, lets talk about this weeks Aussie Curves theme ~ S K I R T

In warmer weather {which is 90% of the time in Queensland} I pretty much live in a tube skirt, denim shorts or a floaty dress.

My Target black tube skirt is an absolute staple in my wardrobe. I wear a size 18 and I purchased it for $15. If you can’t find one in your local Target then have a look online here.

It’s comfy, has a fair amount of stretch and more importantly washes well.

Here’s four daytime looks featuring my black tube mini skirt.

The cut of this top is SO flattering. Crafted from mix of chiffon and crepe fabric you’ll find that its super airy, perfect for summer.

It took me a little while to break down in my mind that wearing a ‘Kimono’ will make you look bigger. Once I got past it I’ve become addicted to wearing them. Kimonos are lightweight, comfortable and can dress up any outfit without accessorising.

This ‘Multi Floral Miami Varsity Silky Front Vest Top With Rib Neck’ {wow wasn’t that a tongue twister} is a new addition to my wardrobe. I don’t normally wear high neck sleeveless tops but something about the floral print and dipped hem was appealing. If I had some chain bling handy I would have accessorised a little more.

Aussie Curves ~ Secondhand

Being a plus size gal we often overlook opshopping. Every now and again you push the moo moos aside and come across a fabulous item.

Even though I’m not a huge fan of shopping {yeah I know crazy right?} every now and again I will have a glance at the clothing in op shops.

I came across this cute dress whilst looking for a halloween costume.

This dress cost a whopping $7.50 and is an Aussie Brand called ‘DOLINA’ By Ronen Young. It was a tight squeeze on the bust but something about the soft pleats had me hooked.

I accessorised with a featured necklace, simple black wedges and a clutch bag.
